Tbilisi Receives World Book Capital Status from Kuala Lumpur
On April 23, 2021, on World Book and Copyright Day, Tbilisi becomes the World Book Capital.
The status is granted by the decision of UNESCO for one year. The UNESCO World Book Capital project is designed to popularize literature.
Books and book industry are gradually losing their importance. The development of digital technologies simplifies the way people get information and replaces reading books.
Throughout the year, events will be held in Tbilisi to attract people's attention to literature and make reading fashionable.
The aim of the project is to support writers, publishers and libraries, as well as to raise the cultural level of people.
