Georgia continues to strengthen its position in the international economic arena, receiving significant support from influential states. One of the leaders of the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Gia Volsky, said that the country has gained solid support from a powerful nation with the second largest economy in the world - China. A similar statement was made during the visit of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to China.

The Prime Minister went on a working visit to China to participate in the opening of the XXXI FISU World Student Games in Chengdu, and then went to Beijing. During the visit, it was decided to raise the level of cooperation between the countries to a strategic partnership. Georgia and China have pledged to cooperate in various fields, contributing to the mutual development and prosperity of both nations.

One of the key moments during Irakli Garibashvili's visit was his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. During the meeting, Xi Jinping announced the transition of bilateral relations between Georgia and China to a new level, which will lay the foundation for strategic partnership between these countries. The leaders of the countries highlighted the importance of joint efforts for the development of various sectors in their States and the improvement of well-being at the global level.

It is worth noting that Georgia and China have maintained diplomatic relations since 1992, and their cooperation has gradually strengthened over the years, especially in the economic sphere. An important step in strengthening cooperation was the signing of a free trade agreement between the countries in 2017, which entered into force in January 2018.

The trade turnover between Georgia and China continues to grow, and China remains one of Georgia's main trading partners. In 2022, the trade turnover between the countries increased by 25.8% compared to the previous year and amounted to $ 1.8 billion. This demonstrates the importance and prospects of cooperation between these two nations, which promises to bring fruitful results and long-term benefits to both sides.
