S&P Rating Agency has confirmed Georgia's credit ratings at the "BB" level

Resilience and resilience are the key characteristics of the economic situation in Georgia, confirmed by the international rating agency S&P Global Ratings. Recently, the agency announced the preservation of Georgia's sovereign long-term credit ratings in both national and foreign currencies at the level of "BB", which is accompanied by a stable outlook, and this became the news of the day.

While the short-term ratings continue to be held at the "B" mark, the agency's experts pay attention to significant factors that provide the country with a real GDP growth rate of 6.1%. Tourism, immigration and financial injections, especially from Russia, will play an undeniable role in this, which is an interesting circumstance.

According to S&P, Georgia's GDP growth was 10.1% a year earlier, and it is projected that this indicator will slow down to 4.5% and 4.2% in 2024 and 2025, respectively, and then, in 2026, it will reach 4.3%. A decrease in inflation is also expected – from 11.9% last year to 2.4% in 2023, then to 3.2% next year, and 3% in subsequent years.

Despite these positive trends, it is worth noting that negative factors remain on the horizon. They include a potential decrease in financial flow, difficulties in the external macroeconomic environment, and even a possible weakening of institutional control mechanisms.

However, the stable outlook of the rating also reflects the continued economic success of Georgia, its stability and high performance in fiscal policy and balance of payments. S&P Global Ratings expects these positive factors to persist over the next 12 months, thereby confirming Georgia's ability to maintain its economic trajectory.
