The sale of Georgian wine is gaining scale
According to the head of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, the main tasks of domestic producers are to expand the product range and reorient sales markets. Among the potential customers are the countries of the Scandinavian Peninsula, Canada and South Korea. At the moment, the leading position among the importing countries belongs to Russia.
According to the calculations of the authorities, over the next ten years, according to the results of the campaign, revenue should amount to about a billion US dollars.
Davitashvili said that in order to reach a new level, it is planned to improve the quality of Georgian alcoholic beverages and significantly strengthen the marketing strategy for its promotion in export markets.
For these purposes, GEL 9 million has been allocated from the state budget.
The promotion of wine for export to Europe, America, Japan, the Baltic States and England began in 2012. As a result, the quantity of goods sold abroad increased by 300 percent.
During the first quarter of this year, Georgia exported almost 36.5 million bottles to fifty countries.
