Preparation for Rtveli-2023: Georgia subsidizes viticulture

Ртвели

In Georgia, it is time to harvest grapes, and the government of the country is taking decisive steps to support winegrowers. This year, the state will subsidize viticulture, giving farmers the opportunity to sell certain grape varieties at a price above the market. According to the press service of the Government Administration, a kilogram of grapes will be subsidized for an amount of 20 tetri, and the price of white grapes will be at least 90 tetri.

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, stressed the importance of supporting winegrowers and encouraging high prices for their products. This will help strengthen the development of the viticulture and winemaking sector, which has been showing steady growth in recent years. Given some climatic aspects, it is expected that part of the harvest may be damaged, but the government is ready to accept such grapes to ensure the sustainable operation of state-owned companies.

Winemaking is becoming more and more profitable and is actively developing, especially in the export direction. Wine exports from Georgia are growing rapidly, and in 2022 more than 103 million liters of wine worth $ 252.5 million were exported to 66 countries around the world. This was a record achievement for independent Georgia. Interest in Georgian wine is growing, and high-quality grapes are becoming in demand.

Most of the wine was sent to Russia, which is considered the main market for Georgian wine. Last year, Russia accounted for 63.7% of the total volume of wine exports. Georgia exported 73.1 thousand tons of wine worth $160.8 million. It is important to note that the variety of Georgian wines and their unique taste attract the attention of buyers from all over the world.

Thus, the preparation for Rtveli-2023 promises to be successful and promising for Georgian viticulture. Government support, subsidies and interest from international partners create favorable conditions for the prosperity of the country's wine industry, strengthening its position in the world market.

Ртвели считается праздником сбора урожая винограда в Грузии. Обычно зависит от времени сбора урожая винограда в конкретных краях страны. Ртвели длится не один день, многие грузины специально берут отпуск на это время.
