The new harvest of Georgian farmers can be called "golden"
This year, thanks to the co-financing of agricultural infrastructure, we had a successful season. Fruits grown in Georgian fields have increased competitiveness on foreign trading platforms.
As of today, 24,000 tons of products have already been exported by the local working population, said Levan Davitashvili, head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia. According to him, the record harvest of apples and peaches was the result of a well-adjusted state policy in the industries involved.
Today, exports from the Domestic Cartalinia are in full swing, which will not be interrupted for a whole month.
The other day, the Minister met with local farmers, exporters and representatives of the refrigeration industry in Gurjaansky district. It is thanks to the work of the latter that the authorities were able to resolve issues with the quality of supplies. At the moment, only one of the settlements has up to 40 farms with the necessary climatic equipment.
Among other things, the Government promotes the functioning of the "green corridor" to the Upper Lars checkpoint so that fruits are promptly delivered to Russian territory. Also among the customer countries are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovenia, Iraq, and others. According to the indicators of last year, 80 percent of the total amount of harvested fruits was sent to the Russian markets.
To date, exports have increased by 6 thousand tons compared to the previous one. By the end of July, the total weight of exported nectarines and peaches was 19 tons. The cost of such a gross collection is approaching $ 17 million.
