Грузинская голубика

Georgia has an impressive success in the field of blueberry exports, as the latest data show. In the first seven months of 2023, the export volume of this berry amounted to three thousand tons, enriching the country's treasury in the amount of $ 18.2 million. This impressive growth of 2.1 times compared to last year was recorded by analysts of the investment company Galt & Taggart.

The export of Georgian blueberries began to develop in 2019, and every year it doubles both in volume and quantity. It is important to note that most of the exports, namely 91.7% of the total value, come from Russia. This indicator clearly demonstrates the importance of the Russian market for the export of Georgian blueberries.

Other countries are also showing considerable interest. Thus, of the remaining 8.3% of exports, 3% are addressed to Armenia, 2.3% to the countries of the European Union, including Poland, the Netherlands and Germany, 1.9% to the United Arab Emirates, and 1.1% to other countries. This indicates the diversity of the geography of Georgia's partners in this industry.

In modern conditions, the Government of Georgia pays considerable attention to the development of agriculture and rural areas. Growing high-yielding crops, such as blueberries, is becoming a priority. The support of farmers, especially those who are engaged in the cultivation of this berry, is becoming a key task within the framework of state programs. Large-scale blueberry plantations are scattered over hundreds of hectares in the regions of Imereti, Samegrelo, Adjara and Guria, demonstrating an important impact on the agro-industry and the economy of the country.
