The Science and Technology Museum gathers instruments, machines and working models that explain physical phenomena through experience rather than words. The format works well with children: the exhibits can be touched, started and taken through step by step. For the town this is a rare type of museum, clearly different from the classic local history collections.
The museum is on Irakli Abashidze street, in the central part of Kutaisi, close to the main streets. The Rioni embankment, the Colchis fountain and the old market are nearby. From here it is easy to continue the walk in any direction.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from eleven in the morning until seven in the evening, closed on Monday. Allow an hour, more with children. In summer the first half of the day is quieter.
Tips
- Bring children, the display is built for participation
- Do not plan the visit for Monday, that is the closed day
- Combine it with a walk through the centre, everything is within reach
How to get there
- About ten minutes on foot from the Colchis fountain
- Roughly three and a half hours from Tbilisi by car along the highway via Khashuri
