Kutaisi Historical Architectural Museum–Reserve

In the center of the city of Kutaisi, in the memorial house-museum of the outstanding Kutaisi doctor and public figure Dmitry Nazarishvili, the Kutaisi Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve is located. This unique museum was founded in 1981 and is a legal entity under public law (LEPL). Since 2008, it has been part of the National Agency for Culture and is under the control of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia.
The museum-reserve preserves the historical heritage of Georgia, presenting a rich collection of 805 items. Its funds contain not only valuable exhibits, but also all historical, architectural and archaeological monuments in Kutaisi and the surrounding area, including the cities of Tskaltubo and Tkibuli. The museum also brings together monuments of Georgian architecture included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List, such as Bagrati Cathedral (11th century), Gelati Monastery (12th century), Motsameta Monastery, ruins of the royal residence of Geguti (12th century) and the royal palace of the Imeretian kings 16th century – “Okros Chardahi” (“Golden Canopy”).
The museum is open daily, except Mondays, from 10:00 to 18:00. Ticket prices are available for different categories of visitors: schoolchildren and students - 1 GEL, adults - 5 GEL, guide services - 30 GEL, participation in educational programs - 6 GEL per student. Admission is free for children under 6 years of age, employees of Georgian and foreign museums, ICOM members (with ID), people with disabilities (on presentation of a valid ID) and refugees.
In addition, the museum offers a permanent memorial exhibition dedicated to Dmitry Nazarishvili, which adds an interesting and educational aspect to visitors.
