The church of Saint George stands in the southern part of Balichi and is one of the active churches of Bolnisi Municipality. The hall building is laid of basalt stones of uneven size.
The entrance is on the south side and the door is framed by an architrave: before the restoration an 18th century gravestone served in that role, and during the works it was replaced by a stone matching the original. Three arched windows, on the east, west and south, let in the light.
The real value of the church lies in its reused older stones. Fragments of early medieval stelae and their bases bearing the Bolnisi cross are set into the south and west walls, and a well worked stone with a cross of a later period is fixed into the edge of the west wall. Sources place the building in the span from the 10th to the 18th century.
