Kazreti lies in the valley of the Mashavera river in Bolnisi Municipality. The town grew up around a mining operation, and the industrial landscape sets the tone: spoil heaps, machinery, working shifts. The church gives the place another voice, and its bell tower is nearly the only vertical line outside the quarry.
For local families this is the main church of the town: children are baptised here, couples married, relatives seen off. The doors open for services rather than around the clock, so a morning visit is easier to plan. Dress soberly, with a headscarf for women.
