It is believed that at the beginning of the 17th century a brick dome was added to the church. Such a time frame was determined by G. Chubinashvili, a researcher of Georgian architecture, who traveled all over the country with expeditions in his time. Based on this we can make the assumption that the small church in the Georgian hinterland was important enough. After all, it was not demolished or abandoned, and improved.
