Baralet Church: 13th Century Temple and Frescoes
This church is located in the village of Baraleti. It was built in the 13th century.
The nave on the east side ends in a semicircular apse. Its central vault rests on an arch that extends to the northern pilaster and capital on the south side.
The nave on the south side is very narrow and is separated from the central beam by several arches.
The materials used in the construction of the church were hewn stone and stone slabs.
Each façade has one window. The walls have cornices that resemble shelves. Looking at the north wall, you will see four beautiful pilasters, while on the south side, instead of pilasters, snow-white columns have been installed.
The decoration of the cathedral's façades is rather dull. Around the perimeter of the cathedral are numerous inscriptions, frescoes, icons, and images of saints. The walls of the building are covered with plaster, which misleads people when they want to determine the originality of the façade structures.
