Chronicle of Georgia Monument: Columns and Royal Gallery

The complex on Mount Keeni is a unique monumental structure of the acropolis type. The History of Georgia monument visually depicts the unified process of Georgia's development from ancient times to the 20th century inclusive.

The author of the idea, concept and architectural and artistic execution is the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Honorary member of the Academy of Fine Arts of France, President of the Academy of Arts of the Russian Federation, Georgian artist and sculptor Zurab Tsereteli.

The memorial complex is one of the rare, technically complex creations considered among the new achievements of technological art of the XX-XXI centuries. The historical connection between the museum and the monument has been developed by Georgian historians, ethnographers, and art historians. The author of the text is the poet Irakli Abashidze.

The historical and memorial complex “Chronicle of Georgia" is located on 12 hectares. The exhibition area is ten thousand square meters, and the exhibition material is presented on four-cornered monumental columns. The lower body has a biblical theme (64 bas-reliefs), on which the upper body of the column (127 bas-reliefs) rests. It presents the gallery of the kings of Georgia, the most ancient monuments of writing, images of state and public figures, episodes from the past of Georgia's ethnographic heritage.

With the blessing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilya II, a church named after the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built on the territory of the memorial museum. This church features masterpieces of fresco painting from the period of developed Christianity. Unlike the originals, they are made using the technique of painting and cloisonne enamel.
