A Georgian restaurant named after its main dish, khinkali. The dumplings are ordered by the piece: kalakuri with herbs, beef, cheese or potato. Pelmeni are on the menu too, including a version baked in a clay pot with cream. In the evenings the dining room has live Georgian music.
Hot dishes include veal and pork ojakhuri, shkmeruli in garlic or cream sauce (also made with free-range village chicken), chicken tabaka, chakapuli, chanakhi, ostri and veal ribs in adjika. Plenty arrives in ketsi clay dishes: mushrooms with sulguni, fried sulguni, veal liver and lobio. From the grill there are pork, veal and chicken skewers, kebab and quail, and for a group the kanchi pork knuckle or a mixed grill platter.
To start, try gebzhalia, jonjoli, pkhali, eggplant or mushrooms with walnuts, and a cheese plate. The bakery side covers Imeretian, Megrelian, royal and skewered khachapuri as well as the Adjarian kind, plus lobiani, chvishtari and pizza. There is fish as well: salmon in pomegranate sauce, grilled trout and dorado, red mullet and king prawns. To drink: chacha, including the homemade draught version, brandy, draught beer, cocktails, a virgin mojito and homemade kompot.
Prices are mid-range, and according to the menu no service charge is added. Dishes can also be ordered for delivery.
