The staff member I interacted with didn’t speak English, and I’m unsure if they were a pharmacist or a technician. I asked for Anti-diarrhea medication or Loperamide, but they didn’t understand me. Instead, they provided a natural supplement derived from fungi. As I continued to request Loperamide, I realized I didn’t know how pharmacies operate in Georgia. I was pressed for time due to a scheduled tour, so I accepted the supplement and left.

The pharmacist gave me the wrong medication. I asked for loratadine, and even though there was a language barrier, the pharmacist understood my request. Instead of the usual 2 mg loratadine tablets, which are lightly sweet and chewable, I was given 5 mg desloratadine. I later found out that desloratadine is a more potent derivative with more side effects, but they insisted it was the same thing. I can't swallow small pills and usually chew them or put them in capsules if they don't taste good. I bit into the desloratadine expecting a sweet taste, but it was bitter and chemical, and it slightly burned my mouth. I had to swallow it. The pharmacist didn't inform me and still charged me. I left, threw away the box, and went elsewhere to find the correct medication. Giving the wrong medication is a serious issue. If someone asks for a specific drug, provide exactly that, not a derivative, unless you properly inform them and get their consent.
