The Daniel Pipia House Museum keeps the setting of the house and the objects tied to the name of its owner: furniture, photographs, documents and everyday things. Collections like this in Samegrelo rest on the family and the neighbours, so the account is personal and the objects are explained through stories rather than on their own. The format is intimate.
The house stands in Obuji, an administrative unit of the Tsalenjikha municipality, in the foothills above the valley. Around it are orchards, forest and the roads towards Jvari and Svaneti. The place is quiet, away from the main flow.
The house is open on Sundays, from nine in the morning until four in the afternoon. Half an hour is enough. A phone number is listed, so on other days you can try to arrange a visit in advance.
Tips
- Plan the visit for a Sunday, on other days call ahead
- Combine the trip with Tsalenjikha and its church
- Come in dry weather, the foothill roads are harder after rain
How to get there
- From Tsalenjikha along the local road, about fifteen minutes by car
- Roughly forty minutes from Zugdidi via Tsalenjikha
