The Dekhviri Museum gathers archaeological finds and household objects of Lechkhumi: ceramics, tools, utensils, textiles and material about how this mountain region lived. Lechkhumi rarely appears on tourist routes, so a collection like this fills a gap: it shows what sets the region apart from neighbouring Racha and Imereti. Everything is shown and explained in person.
The museum stands in Lesindi, a village in the Tsageri municipality, on the slopes above the valley. Around it are forest, orchards and the roads linking villages scattered across the mountains. Tsageri is less than half an hour away.
The museum is open daily from ten in the morning until six in the evening. Half an hour to an hour is enough. A phone number and a social media page are listed, and in winter the visit is better arranged in advance.
Tips
- Call ahead, mountain schedules shift in winter
- Ask about the archaeological part, a rarity for Lechkhumi
- Combine the trip with Tsageri and the other sites of the district
How to get there
- From Tsageri along the local road, about twenty minutes by car
- Roughly two hours from Kutaisi via Tskaltubo and Tsageri
