The Nagebi church stands in the Gulgula area. The name comes from the word nagebi, meaning built, and such names usually attach to buildings raised on the site of older ones.
Several church sites are marked in the Gulgula area, including the Kviratskhoveli church about three kilometres away and a Saint George church to the north. The village belongs to Telavi Municipality, to the foothills above the Alazani plain. The area is wooded and the roads between villages are short.
A headscarf is useful for women, as it may be required at the entrance. The site remains part of the everyday life of the area, and that deserves respect.
