Georgian Emigration Museum of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University

Since 1994, an unusual museum of emigration has been located in the building of Tbilisi State University, dedicated to the life and activities of people whose fate has developed far beyond the borders of Georgia. Despite the fact that the emigrants had to leave their native country, they have forever left a significant contribution to its history and prosperity.

The materials collected in the museum were brought by public figures from almost all continents. Among the exhibits of the Emigration Museum, special attention should be paid to the archives of Noe Ramishvili, Kalistrate Salia, Viktor Nozadze and Noe Jordania.

The exhibitions contain personal letters, recordings of the radio station “Svoboda”, photo and video archives, literary works and memorial items — in total, more than 3,000 exhibits about 80 famous emigrants. Georgian artist Koba Guruli played a primary role in the development of the museum and the preservation of its heritage.
