The Georgian National Center of Manuscripts is one of the famous museums in Georgia, which offers tourists a unique opportunity to see and read fragments of the oldest books of the II century BC in Persian, Mongolian, Syriac and other languages.
The outstanding collection of the museum presents more than 50,000 historical documents, among which handwritten books in Latin and German, specially prepared by the management of the “Series V” foundation, stand out.
The museum was founded in the central district of Tbilisi in 1958. Thanks to the efforts of public figure and discoverer of the Agvan alphabet Ilya Abuladze, the museum is the most important center for the preservation of the historical heritage of Georgia and the mainstay of international research activities in cartvelology.
The exhibition hall periodically hosts exhibitions dedicated to the great Georgian authors Korneli Kekelidze and Mikhail Javakhishvili.
