The church of Saint George in Dirbi is the parish church of the village, living for its people. Dirbi also holds a second sanctuary, the convent of the Dormition of the Mother of God about a kilometre to the north: a community with its own routine, not to be confused with the parish church.
The village lies along the Sagholasheni to Breti road north of Kareli, among orchards and fields in the foothill part of Shida Kartli. Dirbi is spread out enough for several religious sites to coexist calmly. In neighbouring Breti, ten minutes away by car, another convent is active.
The church is active, and it should be entered as any village church: covered shoulders and knees, quiet, a headscarf for women. If you plan to see the convent too, start there and leave the parish church for the way back.
