Sarkineti Monastery, immersed in an atmosphere of history and spirituality, is the pearl of the Shida Kartli region, inviting everyone on a journey to the shrine carved into the rock in the Dzama gorge. The carving of this shrine, which began in 2008, was completed in 2011, when the monastery was majestically opened and consecrated. This monastery, standing on the site where time and prayers flow, is the first temple carved into the rock since the 14th century. To immerse yourself in its holy space, you need to overcome a five-meter corridor leading into the depths of the rock.
The rock is decorated with two church arched windows, emitting the light of divine wisdom, and at its top rises a bell tower-gazebo with open arches, calling for prayer and contemplation. The interior of this sacred place is completely decorated with picturesque scenes telling spiritual stories and symbolism of faith.
