The church of St. George stands in Chobalauri village in the north of Shida Kartli. It also carries a second name, Zegardi, taken from the local area.
Chobalauri lies north of Kaspi, beyond the Kura valley, in the foothill ridges. The neighbouring village of Nigoza has its own St. George church, so the area makes up a short route of village shrines.
A church near Mukhatgverdi outside Tbilisi carries the same name Zegardi, and these are different places at opposite ends of the country.
