The church of Kvirike and Ivlita in Oboleti is a church in the hills beyond Damala village, east of Aspindza. The dedication here is among the most Georgian: the martyrs Cyricus and Julitta, a mother and her infant son, are especially honoured in the country, and their summer feast Kvirikoba gathers people from Svaneti to Javakheti.
The church itself is small and stands far from the roads: Oboleti continues the Aspindza hill route, where behind every fold of the slope hides a church of its own. A local road leads here from Damala through fields and pastures, and the last stretch is better walked.
The place is seen freely, at any time: there are no regular services here. The old walls need care, and the road into the hills asks for dry weather and spare time. The silence here is such that the wind in the grass is audible.
