The church in Erkota is a village church on the slopes west of Aspindza, above the pair of Dadeshi churches. The village lives by land and livestock, the church lives by the village, and together they make the ordinary, quiet picture of the Samtskhe countryside: yards, woodpiles, haystacks and the bell tower above them.
For a traveller Erkota logically closes the small route along the slopes above the Mtkvari: the two Dadeshi churches on the way, the village church at the top and valley views at every step. Such a circle takes a couple of hours at an easy pace and leaves a whole sense of the place such as a single stop rarely gives.
One enters freely, with ordinary rural courtesy: a quiet voice and respect for the yards. If the church is shut, a look from outside and the panorama from the slope are enough.
