The Bieti Church of the Mother of God stands in the gorge of the Tsinubani River, a left tributary of the Kura River, approximately two kilometers from the village of Gurkeli in the Akhaltsikhe Municipality.
The church, a cross-domed structure, dates back to the second half of the 14th century. In 1930, the dome collapsed, leaving only part of the apse with the altar and the pastophorium. Fragments of the murals also survive. The church is listed as a cultural monument of national significance, and in 2019, after clearing and conservation, reconstruction began.
When visiting, it's worth understanding that this is a construction site on the site of ruins, not a church ready for inspection.
