The church of Zardlashi is dedicated to St. Barbare, as the Georgians call the great martyr Barbara. Svaneti holds her in special honour, and Barbaloba, her day, is still kept in the mountain villages.
The church stands by Murshkeli village, five kilometres from Mestia, in the densest church corner of the valley: five hundred metres away is the Ghvebri church of St. George, six and seven hundred metres off the two Murshkeli churches of St. George, and a little further the church of Artskheli.
Small Svan churches rarely hold regular services, yet the shrine can be approached at any time. Follow the coordinates.
