The Murshkeli church of St. George stands together with the ruins of a bell tower: such a pairing of a whole church and the remains of a belfry is not often met in Svaneti.
Murshkeli lies five kilometres from Mestia, in the densest church corner of the valley. Three hundred metres away stand the second Murshkeli church and the St. George church of Artskheli, six hundred metres off the church of Barbale in Zardlashi, and a little further the Ghvebri church.
Small Svan churches rarely hold regular services, yet the shrine can be approached at any time. Treat the ruins of the bell tower with care.
