A village church of Saint George, the most venerated saint in Georgia, whose memory is marked twice a year, in spring and in late autumn. The church is a modest one, standing in the residential part of the village.
Bazaleti is known across the country not for a church but for a lake. By legend a golden cradle rests on the bed of Lake Bazaleti, lowered there together with the hope of the nation, and the story entered Georgian poetry as an image of lost statehood. The village lies west of Dusheti right by the water, and another church, dedicated to the Mother of God, stands about seven hundred metres to the east. The century of building is not established.
The parish is small and services follow the church year. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. The lake and both churches make one short circuit through the village.
