The house of the Holy Fathers carries the name of St Basil the Great, one of the ecumenical teachers of the church. His name is also rendered as Basili, so both spellings are in use for the monastery.
The Machkhani church stands about a kilometre and a hundred metres away, the house of Lelobi by Tabaruki a kilometre and two hundred and sixty, and the ruins of the church of Tsodoreti itself two and a half kilometres off. The country is hilly and the houses stand close together here.
The car park is adapted for wheelchairs, which is a rarity in these parts. The rules are monastic: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet, photography by permission. Three shrines of the district are easily walked in half a day.
