The site is marked as Angelozi, that is Angel: this is what mountain shrines are called in Khevsureti. The structures here are plain and built of stone, arranged differently from ordinary churches.
The shrine stands on a rise by Shatili, a hundred metres from the Annunciation church and the Virgin cross complex. All three churches are visible from one another.
Shrines are strictly revered in Khevsureti: do not step past the enclosure or touch the stones without local permission. Viewing from a distance is free.
