The church of St George is known by the name Lodebi and stands in Sioni village. Here it matters not to mistake the village: the other Sioni, with its well known basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin, lies in Khevi, tens of kilometres from here, on the Georgian Military Road.
This is a village site on the Tianeti side, and its neighbours are few: the ruins of the Zhaleti monastic complex stand about two and a half kilometres away, the Zhaleti sakdari four, and the Kvelatsminda church at Badaani a little over five.
The church is rural and its gates are opened by arrangement. The rules are the usual ones: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet. A search by the village name will almost certainly lead to the Khevi basilica, so steer by the coordinates.
