The small chapel stands in the cemetery of Sameba village in Tsalka Municipality, formerly called Gunia Kala. Sources assign the building to 1951, making it one of the few chapels with an exact date.
The building is plastered and whitewashed outside and in, with no other dressing at all. A stone bearing the image of a cross is set into the north wall, though, and it is clearly older than the chapel itself.
Local people say the stone was taken out of the lake. Stories like this usually point to a submerged settlement nearby, and in the Tsalka area, where old villages ended up under the reservoir, that makes sense. The village holds three more chapels.
