The Upper church stands in Gulbaghi village in Marneuli Municipality. The year of construction is known, two thousand and five, which makes it one of the newest churches in the area.
The building is rectangular in plan and laid of undressed stone on cement mortar, with stones of different colours, sizes and shapes going into the masonry, which gives the wall a mottled look. The entrance is on the west side and the slopes of the tiled roof are steep.
The gables of the east and west walls are set in tile laid at an angle, and marks are left right in that tilework: a cross shaped cutout on the west and an opening on the east. A rectangular opening is cut in the stonework of the same facade, and one more small window sits in the north wall. The sanctuary end and the south wall rise above the ground and carry fragments of relief stones laid out on them, while old gravestones lie in and around the yard.
