The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and belongs to the Gudarekhi monastery complex: this is not a single church but part of an ensemble, and there is no point in seeing it apart from the other buildings.
The place also has a former name, Goristavi, worth remembering: under it Gudarekhi may turn up on old maps and in reference books. The complex lies east of Tetri Tskaro, in the hilly part of Kvemo Kartli, between the district centre and Manglisi.
A separate road leads to the complex, and it can be approached at any time. The rules are those of any monastery: covered shoulders and knees, quiet, care with the old masonry. Seeing the whole ensemble takes about half an hour, and it combines well with a trip to Manglisi.
