The mosque stands in the rural part of Dmanisi Municipality. The building serves the local community, the minaret is low and the yard is small.
Dmanisi Municipality lies in the south of Kvemo Kartli, in the historical region of Borchaly, and is populated mainly by Azerbaijanis, so mosques are found in almost every sizeable village. Dmanisi itself is known far beyond Georgia: the remains of the oldest hominids in Eurasia were found at the settlement site beside it. The landscape around is high and steppe like.
