A small hall church stands on an open rise southwest of Chapala village in Bolnisi Municipality. No dedication of its own is known for it, so it is listed simply as the church of Chapala.
The building is laid of hewn stone blocks and covered by a vault, and the interior is plastered. There is a single door, on the south side.
The walls and the apse have survived, and the roof was once laid with stone slabs. Sources place the church in the span from the 14th to the 18th century. The rise opens a view over the surrounding fields, and the climb is short but goes through grass.
