Church ruins in Zemo Akhalsopeli dedicated to the Archangels. Here the dedication is given in detail, through the names of Michael and Gabriel, whereas usually a general word suffices.
Two similar names should not be confused here. Zemo Akhalsopeli and Akhalsopeli, where the church of Peter and Paul stands, are twenty eight kilometres apart: different villages at opposite ends of the region.
The place is secluded, with the nearest neighbouring shrines more than ten kilometres away. No services are held here, and the ruins deserve care: do not move the stones and do not climb the walls.
