The Marian church stands in Ikvlivgorana village. A dedication to the Mother of God is the commonest in Georgian villages, and here it is fixed in the name of the church itself.
Ikvlivgorana lies on the very edge of Kakheti: about four kilometres to the neighbouring villages of Kevliani and Tedzami, which already belong to the Mtskheta municipality. Kevliani holds three old churches, while in the other direction, by Paldo village, stands the Kobtavi church.
The church keeps village hours, and the gates are often opened on request, so asking in the village is quicker than waiting at the door. Inside, the usual rules hold: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet.
