Status first: these are ruins. The name carries the word sakdari, an old Georgian form for a church, and nangrevebi, remains. There is no working church here, no services are held, and a visit is for the trace of a church site.
What Novia means is not explained, and we will not guess. Bolokiani lies west of Lagodekhi, in eastern Kakheti. The century of building is not established. This church closes a list of a hundred and fifty religious places, and it ends as much of the list ran: not with a loud monument but with a quiet place about which little is known.
Treat the ruins with care: do not climb on the masonry, take nothing away and move nothing. The site is open and can be approached at any time.
