A church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour. In Georgian the feast is called peristsvaleba, literally a change of face. It falls in mid-August and in Georgia is traditionally tied to the blessing of the first grapes, which is why churches with this dedication often stand in wine-making villages.
Rokiti lies in western Imereti, south of Kutaisi. A caution in passing: do not confuse it with Rokhi, a neighbouring village of similar name about twelve kilometres away, where a church of Saint Nicholas stands. The names differ by two letters and a mistake comes easily. The century of building is not established.
The parish is rural and services follow the church year. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. Check the name before setting out so as not to end up in the neighbouring village.
