The church stands in the Duknebi locality of Maghlaki village. It is named after the tract of land rather than a dedication: whom the church was raised for is not said in the district.
Maghlaki lies north-west of Kutaisi, on the plain at the very edge of Tskaltubo Municipality. The second Maghlaki shrine, the Ascension church, stands two kilometres away in the inhabited part of the village.
