Advanced technologies: 5G will take Georgia to a new level

Georgia is on the verge of an important moment in the field of telecommunications – the introduction of advanced 5G technology promises to restart the country in a new era of communications. However, not all industry players initiate this leap. Details are in the statement of the Association of Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO).

Mobile operator Cellfie Mobile has decided to actively participate in the auction to obtain a frequency for the introduction of 5G, thereby noting its interest in this advanced technology. This decision was welcomed by the MVNO Association, which in its statement stressed that the introduction of 5G could become a new stage in the development of the telecommunications sector in Georgia.

The National Communications of Georgia held an auction in July to provide the frequency needed to launch 5G Internet in the country. The only company that showed interest in participating was Cellfie Mobile. This decision will have a positive impact on the Georgian telecommunications space, the association emphasizes, citing the importance of introducing advanced technology to further improve the level of services and the interests of subscribers.

Nevertheless, the association expressed regret over the participation of only one company in the auction, while two large companies covering 70% of the telecommunications market remained on the sidelines. This move caused confusion, given that both mobile operators have publicly expressed their support for the introduction of virtual mobile operators (MVNOs) into their networks.

The statement emphasizes that the Association of Mobile Virtual Network Operators includes three companies – Inexphone, Myphone and Jens, which are ready to actively participate in the implementation of 5G.

5G is a new generation of wireless Internet technology that promises to significantly increase the speed of mobile Internet. It is expected that the introduction of this technology will be a significant step for Georgia towards strengthening its position in the global digital environment.
