Who needs old people? Experience of social work in Georgia
Every year there are more and more old people on the planet. In 30 years, the number of people over 80 will triple. An elderly person needs help and care. If an old person has a family and loving relatives, it is a happy old age.
Lonely elderly people without sufficient means of subsistence can be helped either by the state or charitable foundations. The care of the state for the old and infirm lies in the development and financing of the social industry.
The demand for the labor of caregivers and social workers is growing year by year. Hard labor in demand should be paid decently. When the state does not have enough money for social services, private charitable foundations come to the rescue.
Georgia has such funds, which means that Georgian old people have hope for a well-groomed, cozy old age.
