The Georgian government is creating a targeted state program to support large homeless families who are in difficult living conditions

About a thousand such families will receive new housing thanks to this program. The press service of the government administration reports that GEL 50 million (about $ 18 million) will be allocated for this program.

Families will be resettled in any administrative-territorial unit of Georgia. The program will be valid until the end of 2025. This means that thousands of families will be able to move to new housing and find improved living conditions.

In order to become a participant in the program, a family must have three or more minor children. All family members must be registered in the unified database of socially vulnerable families of the social service authority. However, applications from families whose members are not registered in the unified electronic database of the Agency for Refugees, Ecomigrants and Livelihood support will also be considered if the homeless family member has not yet received support from the state.

The decision on the provision of housing will be made by the relevant commission after evaluating various criteria. This means that each application will be carefully reviewed to ensure that help reaches those who really need it.

It is important to note that the government plans to allocate GEL 25 million in 2024 and another GEL 25 million in 2025 for the implementation of this program. This is a big step in the fight against homelessness in Georgia and improving the situation for large families who find themselves in difficult housing conditions.
