🗣 Leri Tabatadze, director of the Association of Almond and Walnut Producers, said that due to the demand for walnuts, 95% of stocks have already been sold and by the beginning of December the product may disappear from sale.

🚚 The first reason: the export of walnuts has increased, since it is possible to make a big profit when selling outside the country. The main goal is to enter the European market.

👩‍🍳 The second reason: walnuts are an integral part of Georgian cooking, as they are added to almost all national dishes, especially those that are mandatory on the New Year's table. For example, eggplant with nuts, phali, gozinaki and churchkhela. Therefore, the demand for walnuts is not only among restaurants and catering establishments, but also among housewives.

🌴 A shortage is expected, even though the nut orchards from the state program "Plant the Future" have already begun to bear fruit.

💸 The price of unbroken walnuts in the domestic market this year ranged from 8-10 lari, depending on the size of the walnut, and the price of walnut kernels was 20-25 lari.

    Надеюсь, что в Грузии всё-таки не произошёл дефицит грецких орехов на внутреннем рынке. Конечно, можно получить большую выгоду при продаже орехов вне страны, также важно выйти на европейский рынок. Но жителям Грузии тяжело будет без своих грецких орехов, потому что они являются неотъемлемой частью грузинской кулинарии. Кто-нибудь знает, какая ситуация сейчас на рынке?
