Loading of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline has reached new heights

In January-September 2023, the volume of oil exports via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline increased by 4.5%, reaching an impressive figure of 23 million tons, according to a BP-Azerbaijan press release. This dynamic indicates stable growth compared to the same period in 2022. Crude oil delivered through the pipeline was successfully delivered to Ceyhan and loaded onto 238 tankers.

Since the start of operation of the BTC in 2006, more than 554 million tons of crude oil have been pumped, sent to world markets via 5,482 tankers. At the moment, the pipeline transports oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) field and condensate from the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea. The throughput capacity is 1.2 million barrels of oil per day, ensuring a stable supply of energy to the world market.

Over the three quarters of 2023, BTC Co has invested more than $25 million in capital expenditures in the project, supporting the reliable operation of the infrastructure. The project also attracts the attention of external investors, including BP, SOCAR, MOL, Equinor, TPAO, Eni, TotalEnergies, ITOCHU, INPEX, ExxonMobil and ONGCVidesh, joining forces for the successful implementation of the pipeline project.
