The United Nations appreciated the nature of Georgia
The Prime Minister of the country noted the importance of the event for the entire region as a whole. International recognition of local natural sites will contribute to the growth of demand for ecotours to these destinations among foreign travelers.
The UNESCO list, which contains two hundred unique ecological territories, included Georgian coastal forest tropics and swamps, namely: National Parks at the foot of Mtirala and in Colchis, as well as the Kintrishi and Kobuleti nature reserves. Now their safety will be monitored at the world level.
Mount Mtirala got its name for the abundance of rains and fogs. To get to the park, you need to drive 25 kilometers from Batumi towards the mountain range. This place is famous for the variety of local flora and fauna.
The following protected area is located in the west of the country in Samegrelo. Between the Black Sea lands and Lake Paleostomi stretched ancient swamps that were here ten million years ago. That is why there are so many rare birds that winter here, and animals.
In turn, the lands around the Kintrishi River attract ecotourists with picturesque plants preserved from the early period of the Cenozoic era to the present day.
There are also unique peat bogs in Adjara, created for the preservation of natural heritage. You can visit them in the coastal part of the city of Kobuleti.
