Notary Chamber of Georgia: partnership with the Council of Notaries of the European Union

The Georgian Notary Chamber has concluded a partnership agreement with the Council of Notaries of the European Union. Such cooperation is aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, ensuring legal security in the field of notarization. The partnership was officially announced by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

The decision on the partnership was made at the General Assembly of the Council of Notaries of the European Union (CNUE) in Brussels. The agreement provides for various events and meetings, which will be attended by Georgian notaries. They will be able to discuss important issues related to the notary sphere, including digitalization, the development of legislation on notary services, the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

It is interesting to note that relations between Georgia and the European Union have become particularly fruitful since Georgia joined the Eastern Partnership program in 2009. Georgia is now seeking to obtain the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union.

In June 2022, Georgia was granted a "European perspective", and in November 2023, the European Commission submitted a report on the fulfillment of 12 conditions necessary to grant the country candidate status. The final decision will be made by the European Council at a meeting in December 2023.

If Georgia is granted the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union, this will be an important step for the country towards further strengthening democracy and economic development.
